Description

The student activities in the Archeology Unit are divided into several parts. The teacher can decide to use one of them, some of them or all of them. They include an introductory activity where students analyze one artifact we have left behind and use a handout to draw conclusions about the object (materials used to make the artifact, uses of artifact, etc.) Other activities challenge the students to research Archeology, Archeologists and artifacts through computer websites for kids or through books and articles provided by the teacher in the classroom. There are some helpful websites listed. Finally, the students will write a short paper about Archeology using the information the students gained from their research. This activity contains an explanation of the requirements for the writing assignment along with a scoring guide for the assignment.
