What educators are saying

I bought all the months for this journal. My students love to see what National day is next. They love writing in their journals.

Description

Add daily writing practice into your spring routine! This April writing journal uses writing prompts from the National Days calendar for the month of April. It's timely, engaging, and simple to implement. The responses can be completed in 5-10 minutes!

Students are prompted to write:

  • opinion responses
  • narrative stories
  • persuasive paragraphs
  • and more!

Students write about the benefits and potential downsides of a community garden, a descriptive paragraph about their pet (or a pet they'd like to have), a day they'd like to "erase" from their memory, a "dragon" they'd like to slay in their own life, and much more! The writing prompts are sometimes entertaining, sometimes informative, and always short and to the point.

Two options in one download:

  1. Print as a Writing Journal and staple into a packet.
  2. Use the printer-friendly Writing Prompts. Students cut the daily prompt and paste into their spiral notebook.

Uses:

  • as a bell ringer to begin the day
  • for fast finishers
  • as an exit ticket
  • during writing centers
  • as homework

Use weekend pages for:

  • homework
  • simple writing assignment when you have a substitute
  • an alternative to silent reading when an assignment is completed

Formats included:

  • Printable
  • Google Slides
  • Easel

Be sure to click the Preview to see full-page examples of the journal pages! The Google Slides look identical to the printable pages, but with text boxes added.
