Description

This discussion-led lesson plan for the ESL / EFL / ELA classroom on April Fools' Day is really bad.

April Fools!

*****************************************************************************

This fun lesson plan gets students talking with:

Three warm-ups you can choose from:

1. An easy April Fools' joke for you to play on your students.
2. A sample hoax for them to analyze.
3. A quote about April Fools' Day for students to discuss.

Fifteen Discussion questions about April Fools' Day, pranks and hoaxes, humor, and holidays.

An April Fools' Day Web Quest that teaches students to do research on the Internet, find good sources, take information from multiple sources, and summarize or paraphrase what they have learned.

Students will learn about the first reference to April Fools' Day in Chaucer, a joke that got people all over the world jumping in the air, and Taco Bell's purchase of the Liberty Bell (April Fools!).

Students can also talk about their own ideas for a great hoax. Make sure to get liability insurance before encouraging students to act on their ideas though!
