Unit 7 of the Global History Curriculum (1750 to Today) covers an analysis of the world's transition from empires to decolonized republics amidst the crises of the modern era.

◾ GANDHI, PARTITION OF INDIA, NEHRU, JINNAH
The unit begins with Mohandas Gandhi and the push for Indian Independence, leading to the Partition of India.
◾ PAN-AFRICANISM, NKRUMAH, KENYATTA
The unit then moves to Pan-Africanism and the decolonization of Africa, zooming in on Kwame Nkrumah and Jomo Kenyatta.
◾ RWANDAN GENOCIDE
Students will then learn about the Hutus and Tutsis of Rwanda and evaluate the causes and effects of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.
◾ NELSON MANDELA AND APARTHEID
Students will then move to South Africa where they will analyze the life of Nelson Mandela and his work with F.W. de Klerk to dismantle apartheid.
◾ THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT
The unit concludes in the Middle East where students will assess the Pan-Arabist and Zionist movements, the Balfour Declaration, and the onset of modern conflicts between Israel-Palestine.
