Antarctica Unit - Antarctica Activities and Resource Pack

This Antarctica Powerpoint and booklet has been designed to supplement your lessons on Antarctica.

In the PowerPoint you will find lots of external links provided to relevant and engaging videos, with important key points highlighted on the slides. Some activity suggestions and discussion points also added on some pages.

The PowerPoint covers the following:

- Introduction (origins, location, size, night/day, ownership, importance)

- Geography (land, mountains, ice)

- Environmental Conditions (climate, global warming)

- Flora and Fauna in Antarctica (penguins, seals, whales, wandering albatross, krill, and plants)

- Discovery and Survival (First discovery, famous explorers, Roald Amundsen, survival requirements)

- Protecting Antarctica (Why?, human impacts, the Antarctic Treaty)

- Quiz at the end (Answers on the PPT)

Antarctica Student Booklet

In this pack you will also receive a 32 page printable student booklet (including a title cover page). This booklet goes with the PowerPoint presentation, and has been designed to give students their own workbook to complete notes and answer questions about Antarctica (quiz included at the end!). You will need to use the Power Point presentation for the students to complete most of the pages in it. However, there are some extra activities added in there that will not require the PPT.

I have also included some fun bonus Antarctica activities within the booklet, you could use these as part of a fun lesson or for students to work on when they finish their other work early.

Antarctica Teacher Booklet Copy - Answer Key + Teaching Notes

I have included a Teacher copy of the student booklet in this pack. This PDF file contains the answers to the student booklet where applicable. I have also included some teaching notes throughout.

You will also find snapshots and guides when a PowerPoint slide or a video viewing is needed in order to complete a worksheet of the booklet. Please note that the answers to the quiz are already on the PPT, so you can mark as a class. The final bonus questions in the booklet quiz are a teacher to check only as you may get a variety of responses.
