Description
This oil pastel art lesson is bound to IMPRESS all and keep students ENGAGED with very little prep from you! Students will be engaged in creating an oil pastel drawing of an animal. In this middle school or high school art lesson, students will use the grid drawing technique to draw an animal in the direct proportions as the original photograph. Oil pastel techniques will be used to create implied texture. In addition, students will be informally assessed to check for understanding of their knowledge on the following categories of art: portrait, still life and landscape. The PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides includes: lesson objectives, standards (use 2- or 3-dimensional art materials to understand the potential and limitations of each & create art work requiring sequentially ordered steps and required media to achieve intended results), materials, art vocabulary (portrait, landscape, still life, grid drawing), step by step instruction, a informal assessment to check understanding on the difference between portrait, still life and landscape, painting tips, oil pastel tips, student examples, rubric, reflection questions and a YouTube video art tutorial on how to draw a grid on your paper.
ALSO Includes: 40 ready to print images to transfer to 12"x18" paper, grid to be taped on animal photo (to be printed on transparency paper), and Printable rubric.
