What educators are saying

Students loved this project and being able to choose their own animal! We did them in oil pastel and they learned a lot in the process.

Description

My Painting 1 students LOVED this project that we just finished.

In the PowerPoint, we viewed zoomed-in images of different animal eyes, trying to guess what they belonged to. When the identity of each animal was revealed, my students were excited to see if their guess was correct or if they were way off. We then viewed some paintings of animal eyes. Finally, my students used the included worksheet to plan their own painting.

Included:

-PowerPoint (25 slides)

-Brainstorming and sketching worksheet (PDF and Microsoft Publisher files)

My 11th and 12th grade students spent about 5-6 days painting on an 11x14 canvas. This project can also be adapted to a drawing unit, rather than painting. We used acrylic paint, but you can also use watercolor, oil pastel, pen and ink, colored pencil, etc.

Thank you!
