What educators are saying

This was such a great activity to do to reinforce adaptations while teaching 4th graders how to research topics!
This was an exceptionally created project. The class was engaged and enjoyed working on it. I loved this one!

Description

Animal Adaptations Informational Reading and Science Research Project Worksheets

This activity enhances students' reading and research skills as they learn about animal adaptations. The unit includes 64 custom animal cut-out pages, along with a fact page for the back of each card. You determine the size of your project by assigning the number of pages works for your class. I have included blank cards to allow kids to choose their own animal and create original illustrations. Students use the internet or reference books to find information about their animal(s). They glue the front and back pages together to create each complete card. Students may attach all of the pages together to create an Animal Adaptations Booklet. (I punch a hole in each corner and attach them using a pipe cleaner.)

There are two sizes of animal adaptation cards included. One has four cards per page, the other has two cards per page. This allows more writing space for students who need it.

Comments from teachers who have used these research cards:

"My students are having a great time with these cards! I love that they are required to make inferences while reading and researching in order to find the animal adaptations."

"Thorough and allows for independent responses. I added some plants to the list of animals. Makes for a great class book for the classroom library."

"This is a great way to expose kids to lots of different animal animals and adaptations that may not have come up in class. I had students pick 3-5 animals to research and share.

There are so many cards to pick from!"

"My students LOVED this project! Thank you!: :-)

Examples of evidence could include needs and characteristics of the organisms and habitats involved. The organisms and their habitat make up a system in which the parts depend on each other.
