This interactive lesson plan introduces students to the events, and asks students to role play what they would do as president.

This interactive lecture and student role play covers Andrew Jackson's actions in the Nullification Crisis and the renewal of the charter of the Second Bank of the United States. Students learn about each of these events through a provided powerpoint lecture, which corresponds to a set of provided student notes. Before learning how Jackson responded, students discuss possible executive actions, and work with partners determine and defend what action they would take. After revealing Jackson's action, students discuss and note what this reveals about the character of his presidency. Primary source political cartoons support the lecture, and are included, along with teacher instructions that provide full directions for the lesson, and explanation of the political cartoons.
