Description

Every year, for about a week, I convert my social studies class into a "Roman School Classroom."

During that time, students attend special lessons and learn some of the Latin language, Latin idioms, and Latin phrases, the Roman money system, Roman numerals, and the ancient Roman calendar.

It is a pleasure for students and the teacher to take part in this activity, which is something completely different for the the class and the teacher (role-playing). This document contains everything you need to run a similar program in your class:

1) Detailed teacher background information on the ancient Roman education system.

2) "Before you begin" guidelines and tips for doing this unit the right way.

3) Complete one-hour + lesson plan on beginner's Latin (language arts)

4) Complete one-hour + lesson plan on Roman coins and money (mathematical problem-solving)

5) Complete lesson plan on Roman numerals (mathematics)

6) Complete one-hour + lesson plan on the Roman calendar (problem-solving)

7) Comprehensive final exam to give at the end of the Roman School Simulation

This is a huge set of teacher resources and lesson plans, containing over 2700 words and leaving no stone unturned in preparing you to have a successful "Roman School Simulation" in your classroom.
