What educators are saying

This was a wonderful tool utilized as a resource for my students with disabilities. It helped address the diverse needs of the students within the room. Thank you so much!
My students LOVE Egyptian mythology. The Book of the Dead is a favorite. They enjoyed evaluating the primary source and learning the meaning behind the images.

Description

Ancient Egypt & Book of the Dead! Analyzing the afterlife of Ancient Egyptians!

In this hands-on lesson, students analyze three scenes from the Book of the Dead by the ancient Egyptians to understand the chronology of the Egyptian afterlife. Students work through five different steps on the included handout to understand what is happening in each scene, then place the images together in the correct order based on their understanding of what is happening. Then, students converse with other students, reflect on the process for getting a correct answer, connect the ancient Egyptian view of the afterlife with modern-day faiths to find similarities (with Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, or any other faith), and create a poem that shows what they have learned about the view of the afterlife in polytheistic ancient Egypt.
