    Description

Make ancient Egypt come alive for your students. Using colorful illustrations, illustrated stories, fun quizzes, and hands on activities allow your students to discover how ancient Egyptian religious beliefs influenced their burial practices.

Recognizing a Pharaoh is a FREE 8-slide introduction on Egyptian rulers. It covers the 1st ruler who joined Upper and Lower Egypt into one country and how using both political symbols and religion cemented the legitimacy of both his and all the other future pharaohs’ rule over Egypt.

The Gods of Ancient Egypt introduces students to the 12 main Egyptian gods, their likenesses, relationships and job roles. In addition to a presentation there are handouts for the students to fill in for each of the deities.

Ancient Egypt: mummies, gods and pyramids introduces the students to the ancient Egyptian belief of life in the Land of the Dead. Immortality consumed them and this presentation explores what the ancient Egyptian rulers did to ensure that life after death would be both pleasant and eternal. Not everyone would enter this land and not everyone could stay, so the ancient Egyptians did their best to circumvent every potential problem that would hinder their immortality.

Finding King Tut’s Tomb is a 16-page illustrated digital book on the discovery in 1922 by Howard Carter of the long-forgotten tomb of the last pharaoh of the 18th Egyptian dynasty. Using original photos taken at the time of the discovery, A.C. Sandler retells the exciting story of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb hidden for over 3,000 years in the Valley of the Kings. A 3-page text only copy is also included.

King Tut’s Tomb: Archaeology Activity this is a hands-on activity letting your students practice critical thinking skills by analyzing the grave goods found in Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s Tomb. Out of the 5,000 grave goods found in the tomb, 20 were chosen for this activity. Beautiful photos of household goods, clothing, sports equipment, religious artifacts, and his body let students infer what the Ancient Egyptians considered important for life in the hereafter. This activity is low prep and works well for both individuals, pairs, groups and whole class.

Each presentation is available as both a PowerPoint Show and as a pdf for printing.

All presenter’s notes are featured in both the PowerPoint Shows and in separate pdfs.
