Ancient Civilizations Unit Introduction Activities Bundle | Worksheets

Have you ever struggled with how to start your units for Ancient Civilizations? This bundle can help! There are eight worksheets and editable Google Slideshows that correspond with the seven most commonly taught Ancient Civilizations: Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Mesoamerica, and African Empires! These activities give students a closer look at the modern-day countries where these civilizations took place, which helps students make connections between the past and present.

Use these Ancient Civilizations worksheets on the first day of each unit as way to introduce the topic and spark your students' curiosity about the new region! It can also be nice to start with a simple, no-prep activity to give yourself some additional time to grade tests or projects from the previous unit, and tie up any loose ends. Each worksheet or digital activity takes about 45 minutes.

Your students will need access to computers or the internet to complete these activities. For your convenience, answer keys to each worksheet have been included.

The activity for Mesopotamia is a little different than the others, as modern-day Iraq is not necessarily a travel destination, so a few of the prompts on the activity were changed.
