Description

This introduction to algebraic variables introduces variables, like terms, unlike terms, and combining like terms to students who are just starting to learn about variables used in algebra. "Arrows" is used for variable "a", "stars" is used for variable "s" and "pentagons" are used for variable "p".

Included in this download is a lesson plan, a sorting activity, posters, and an activity to add, subtract and identify variables, like and unlike terms. both a printable and digital version is included. The digital version is in Google Slides with drag-and-drop slips for the sorting activity and text boxes for written answers.
