Understanding the Pledge of Allegiance - PowerPoint that breaks down the Pledge for students to understand. (7 pages)

Nomenclature Cards - Working and control cards for all 16 symbols. (8 pages)

American Symbols Bingo - 20 cards with 16 symbols and 10 cards with 8 symbols. (30 pages)

Cut and Paste American Symbols Book - Students fill in the blank with the correct symbol and cut and paste the corresponding image. (8 pages)

Touring America Game - SmartBoard presentation with sound for correct answer. Students imagine they are taking 2 cultural exchange students on a tour of the United States. Answer 16 questions about the symbols. (17 pages)

I Know My American Symbols Assessment - 16 multiple choice questions. The answer options are all images. (4 pages)

American Symbols Writing Sheets - Have students create their own class and/or family symbol. Letter home to parents is included if family symbol is done as a home extension. (5 pages)

The materials are designed to teach your students all 16 symbols or focus on the first set of 8. Therefore, all of the materials are arranged so the first portion focuses on the first set of 8 above. The materials included in this zip file are in PowerPoint or SmartBoard format so you can modify to meet the needs of your students. The only exception is the writing sheets due to copyright of border.
