    Description

This bundle includes products that are used to teach an American Law Class. This class is taught to students who have an interest in various facets of American Law, such as law enforcement and legal studies. My class consists of 9th-12th graders and I have received positive feedback through this site that these materials may be used with 8th graders, as well. McGraw Hill's Streetlaw: A Course in Practice Law (9th Edition) is the textbook that aligns with my course. Because I teach only a semester-long, as apposed to a year-long, course, I have chosen roughly half of the content within the book to cover. This INTRODUCTION TO AMERICAN LAW UNIT Bundle includes the following products:

    1. Unit Overview - list of learning targets and corresponding vocabulary
    2. Unit Study Guide - fill-in-the-blank essay with word bank (answer key included)
    3. Unit Exam - matching & multiple choice (includes a modified version for E.L.L. students or students with special needs; answer key included)
    4. Constitutional Values Teacher Power Point (IE. federalism, separation of powers, Bill of Rights)
    5. Bill of Rights Student Note Guide (corresponds with Constitutional Values Teacher PPT)
    6. Matching Powers Student Activity (students read a scenario and identify if it's relevant to "separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, or the Bill of Rights"; answer key included)
    7. Court Systems Teacher Power Point (IE. trial courts, jury duty, appellate courts)
    8. Runaway Jury Movie Guide (students watch the movie, Runaway Jury, to learn about ways juries operate)
    9. Criminal vs. Civil Law Teacher Power Point (IE. beyond a reasonable doubt, preponderance of the evidence)
    10. Criminal vs. Civil Law Student Activity (students read a scenario and identify if it's relevant to criminal or civil law; answer key included)
    11. O.J.: Made in America Video Guide (students watch clips from both the criminal and civil trials of O.J. Simpson)
    12. Influencing the Lawmaking Process Teacher Power Point (IE. activists, lobbyists, suffragists)
    13. International Law Teacher Power Point (IE. treaty, extradition)
    14. The Lawmaking Process Teacher Power Point (IE. bill, statue, executive order)
    15. How a Bill Becomes a Law Student Activity (students access an infographic and use it to outline the process of how a bill becomes a law; answer key included)

Each of these products, as well as the semester final exam, are for sale, independently in my store. The bundle offers a discounted price if you're interested in purchasing all of the materials. I hope you find them useful :). I also offer all of these products in Google-Classroom compatible format.
