What educators are saying

My students enjoyed the plays, kept them more engaged. This resource had a lot of information presented as real life situations.
My students love these plays. They are very engaged and they were able to work on their fluency and comprehension skills.

Description

These seven alternative energy partner plays are intended to be used as fluency-building activities that upper elementary students can complete with a partner. This set of seven scripts focuses on renewable resources, nonrenewable resources, and alternative energy options. They can certainly be used at any time of the year, but they would be an excellent activity for Earth Day!

It also includes a BONUS comprehension worksheet. After reading each script, students answer two or three comprehension questions that accompany that particular script.

This resource is available in multiple formats. Each teacher gets to choose the format that best meets his/her students' needs. You will choose between the printable partner plays and the paperless version that uses Google Slides. Each script is exactly two pages, making it easy to print them back-to-back on a single page.

This set includes these SEVEN independent scripts:

  • The Need for Alternative Energy (renewable resources, nonrenewable resources, fossil fuels)
  • Solar Energy (solar cells)
  • Wind Energy (wind turbines, wind farms)
  • Hydroelectric Energy (dams, turbines, generators)
  • Geothermal Energy (geothermal pumps and geothermal power plants)
  • Nuclear Energy (uranium, the pros and cons of nuclear energy)
  • Biomass Energy (biofuels, ethanol)

These scripts are also ideal for parents who are looking for fun at-home reading activities that parents and children can read together. If you have a child who is reluctant to read at home, I encourage you to give these scripts a try!

They really nailed the main idea of the resources with the provided question page. These are great to enhance understanding of energy resources. Excellent resource and I would highly recommend this!"
