What educators are saying

I print this on legal sized paper. Students get to color and complete their letter of the week crown and wear them home. They absolutely LOVE these alphabet crowns. Worth every penny!

Description

These phonics alphabet crowns are an engaging, fun, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate way to practice letters Aa-Zz! Each alphabet crown is comprised of 6 interactive activities designed to help students practice the fundamental beginning phonics skills of letter recognition and letter-sound connections. On each alphabet crown, students will practice recognizing, matching, tracing, and writing the letter of focus. They will color pictures of words that begin with the letter sound, and they will also brainstorm and draw a picture of something that begins with the letter sound. Your students will love practicing the letters of the alphabet with these fun crowns that they can wear home. These crowns are an excellent complement to your preschool or kindergarten phonics instruction. The interactive activities included reinforce the fundamental phonics/beginning reading skills of recognizing letters and building letter-sound connections. They also provide practice with letter formation.

You will receive one crown and coordinating headband strip for each letter of the alphabet; 21 consonants and 5 short vowels (26 crowns total). A total of 6 activities are included on each crown: color the letter bubbles, color the pictures, match the upper and lowercase letters, trace the letters, write the letters, and draw a picture of something that begins with the letter sound. Your students will be actively engaged as they complete each activity on the crown, while simultaneously building valuable beginning phonics skills!

PLEASE NOTE: The Letter Xx crown uses words/pictures that have /x/ as the FINAL sound in the word rather than the initial sound (fox, mix, box).

Implementation Suggestions

Print the crown of focus and make a copy for each student. These crowns can be completed in a small or whole group setting. After completing the activities/coloring their crown, students can cut out the crown and headband. You can also choose to cut out the crowns and headbands for your students in advance. Use glue or tape to attach the headband strip to the crown. Teachers can assist each student in adjusting the headband to ensure a proper fit.
