Alma Thomas Inspired Landscape Painting Art Lesson

This abstract landscape painting art lesson inspired by Alma Thomas is perfect for middle school artists or upper elementary students, perfect for Black History Month. Students will create an abstract landscape painting and mix tints and a variety of colors. Students create variety in their painting by changing the direction and colors in their landscape. The PowerPoint and PDF presentation includes standards, objectives, materials (including Line Landscape Idea Sheet), vocabulary, examples, facts about Alma Thomas, art critique of the work of Alma Thomas, a YouTube art tutorial/demonstration to show your students in class, on personal devices or remotely, step by step instructions with images, reflections questions and a printable rubric. I keep this lesson in my rotation because EVERY student is successful and it creates a very colorful display of monuments around the world! Great resource for Black History Month!
