Description
This unit is so much fun to teach in kindergarten and/or first grade! We are having so much fun learning about all about me - what makes us unique and special, all about our family, we learn about different helpers in our community and careers including firefighters, police officers, teachers, doctors, dentists, farmers and more! Plus, at the end of the unit students get to share what they want to be when when they grow up.

THEME 1 - ALL ABOUT ME

♥ ALL ABOUT MY #SELFIE
Two versions included - one where students write and one where students draw all about themselves. What their favorite food, candy, game, animal, etc. Then they draw a self portrait on the cellphone.
♥ ALL ABOUT ME MINI BOOK
This adorable mini book has students trace the sentence and fill in their answers. Then they can color the pictures. Also included is a version where they draw their own illustrations. Use whichever version you prefer.
♥ MATH AND ME
Two different activities have students use math to describe themselves, including their age, birthday, how many teeth they have lost, how many siblings they have etc.

THEME 2 - ALL ABOUT MY FAMILY

♥ FAMILY VOCABULARY
Vocabulary picture cards to be placed in charts, along with posters and activities are included. Students can write the definitions and draw pictures on their recording sheets. Students learn words such as members, mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, traditions, celebrate, etc.
♥ MY FAMILY TREE
Three different versions included for students to make their family tree. One version has students draw their own family members, and another they can simply color the members and cut out who belongs on their tree.
♥ FAMILY POETRY
Included is a family poem that can be cut out and placed in a chart to display, along with a coordinating poem in color and BW for students.
♥ FAMILIES CAN LIVE IN A..., CAN HAVE...., LIKE TO.... CHART
Two versions are included - one where students write the words and one where students cut out the pictures and sentences and place them under the correct heading. We are learning about different places a family can live, what families can have and what they like to do.
♥ FAMILY WRITING PROMPT
Included are two versions to provide scaffolding for students. Picture word banks help students spell key vocabulary, and one version has a sentence starter.
♥ FAMILY GRAPHING
Students count the family members on the mat and graph the results - included in both color and BW.
♥ MAKE A CLASS GRAPH
Make a classroom graph - students write how many family members they have and you can graph the results in a class graph.

♥ COMMUNITY HELPER POSTERS w/ RECORDING GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
These adorable posters show vocabulary words associated with each helper, along with describing, "How I can help you." Students fill out their coordinating charts to describe each community helper.
♥ CLUE CARDS
This is such a fun game to play with students! I read clues from a clue card and students have to guess which community helper I am describing.
