All Together Now or Not? Life-Changing Questions for Awakening and Empowerment

Barbara Jordan, the first African American woman elected to the Texas State Senate, later the first African American woman to represent a southern state in Congress when she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1972, gave a keynote speech commonly known as “All Together Now” on July 12, 1976 at the Democratic National Convention.
