Description

The process of mummification is something kids are really interested in and this lab gives them the chance to see this process in just 14 days using easy to find and cheap materials. Students can also read all about mummification and write their own steps for the process. We add pictures in the boxes, too! The Steps of Mummification charts works best if it is enlarged and copied onto 11 x 17 sheets of paper. This is a great lab to do while you are working on an Egypt unit or as part of a display for multicultural nights.

Kids can make their own model of a mummy with its own sarcophagus. We used plastic skeletons, but you can also use a wide craft stick, and wrap it with toilet paper. Then students can then make a sarcophagus to hold their mummy.

These activities will have your kids really engaged and excited about mummies!
