All About Japan: Country Study Research Unit

This no-prep, print and go product is a fantastic tool for your next country study! It is intended to help your students practice organizing information as they learn about Japan. There are 5 pages, plus the cover. Each page asks questions that will help guide your students during the country study unit. After the learning log is complete, each student will have a booklet of important information about Japan.

I use this resource while teaching about a country. Before I begin, I print this as a booklet to give the students as they begin to learn about Japan. I read books to the class, share videos, show websites and pair students up to go through books on Japan together. As the students are learning about the country, we then use the Learning Log to record important information. There is also a page with resource suggestions that could be used to support your study of Japan.

Topics included in the Learning Log include:

•geography- map reading

•Landmarks- record, draw and label interesting landmarks in Japan

•food- draw common food you would find that someone in Japan might eat for lunch

•culture- flag, language, money and sports

•school- compare and contrast a school in Japan to your school

•Word search with important words associated with Japan

•fun facts- add a few extra facts and describe what you would do if you were to travel to Japan
