Description

This video explains the process undertaken in aligning instructional materials to Preschool Learning Foundations and Head Start Domains and Elements. We also aligned all activities to Kindergarten Common Core Standards.

A curriculum was chosen and spread over the 10 months of a school year then broken down by curricular area and sub-topics. Next Instruction materials were aligned in terms of worksheets, mini-lessons using pocket charts, and station activities to reinforce the concepts taught.

The year's scope and the sequence are broken down into 10 notebooks each containing, monthly theses, subsequent weekly skills, and daily instructional activities and skills practice.

Most notebooks contains over 200 pages of materials, resources, worksheets, center activities including pocket chart strips, vocabulary cards, alphabet cards, number cards, shape cards, color cards, clip carts, cutting activities, coloring activities, movement activities, puzzles, shape clip cards, alphabet clip cards, patterning cards, color clip cards, play dough mates, story cards and popsicle character cards, seat work and center activities to name a few.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
