Description

Alfabeto cultural español | Cultural Spanish alphabet signs

30 letter signs from the Spanish alphabet with cultural images, plus the student worksheet to accompany these letters. The worksheet has miniature versions of the letters and a space for the students to write the word (like "be" for B) and /brackets/ where students can write out how the letter sounds to them.

Each sign is a country, nationality, or artifact related to a Spanish-speaking country. For "O", for example, I chose "oruguita" in honor of the movie Encanto, but really because of the symbolism of the caterpillar as well as that of the butterfly, especially in Colombian culture.

Teacher Tip: I would point to the word, pronounce it, draw out a mouth on a board to demonstrate how they form their mouth to pronounce each letter, and say the word next to the letter, in addition to giving the word and letter sounds.

Note: The Spanish alphabet has changed, but not all of the current textbooks as of 2023 honor it. I not only include the ñ, which is still a letter, but also ch, ll, and rr, because my textbook uses it. If you would like to not include it, please don't post the signs.
