ART HISTORY │ VISUAL ARTS │ARTIST POSTER
⫸ Research
⫸ Classroom Decor
⫸ Comprehension & Literacy
This poster focuses on the artist Ai Weiwei and his obsession with sunflower seeds! This is a good poster to hang up in your classroom to introduce students to contemporary Chinese art, Chinese history and/or nature in art. I usually put this up in my classroom at the beginning of term, and in the run up to the Lunar New Year, and use it as both a standalone poster and as a tool for research activities. It also makes a great lesson starter, and works in the virtual classroom too! Suitable for Grades 3+.
Teaching tip: Get your students to think about the following questions; which flower would best describe your identity? What is our individual role in society? Do we need to come together to stay powerful, strong, and significant? How could we do this?
