Description
This elective course inspires guided inquiry and discussions relating to African American history in the 20th century. It addresses triumphs of a resilient people who have progressed in American culture despite systemic barriers. Historic tragedies are also discussed and the contributing role different types of racism historically played in society.
The course is intended for high school students in grades 9 – 12 and includes advanced reading selections that can be explored as appropriate.
