Our first series of Japanese Journal Writing Packs were so popular that we've decided to make more. Have fun and improve your Japanese skills by using language in context every day. These journal prompts give you a starting point to write a short diary entry every day for a month.

Designed by a native Japanese speaker, in collaboration with an experienced foreign language teacher, this instant download PDF pack uses Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2 and N1 level Japanese. The prompts have been designed to focus on the most commonly used grammar points in Japanese language that are appropriate to this level, whilst keep topics fresh and engaging.

There are 31 thought-provoking prompts written in natural, advanced level Japanese: one for every day of the month! Topics are designed to enable you to write about your opinions on politics, society, current events and the future, as well as honing skills like arguing for or against a thesis, forming reasoned arguments and re-telling anecdotes. This pack will be most successful if used every day, but for busy learners you can write freely whenever you have time. The focus is on little and often, making it easy to integrate into your study routine.
Read the prompt and write a response using the grammar, kanji and vocabulary you already know. The goal is application and consolidation of your existing language skills to help make those new words and grammar points stick!
After you finish, check any grammar or words you are unsure about using a dictionary, textbook, or online grammar guide. This should help you identify your common mistakes, and writing every day will help you to remember how to use those weak points with greater accuracy.
