Description
Addition With Regrouping Welcome to the Regrouping Neighborhood!
This is a huge SMARTBoard lesson designed to teach the new First Grade Common Core Standard: Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
The first group of 30 slides has students working the problems using 10s rods and cubes as support.
The second group of 30 slides has students working problems using the regrouping frame as support.
The third group of 40 slides has the students working through the problems without support.
The final group of 31 slides are intended to be used as enrichment. Students are allowed the possibility of adding Hundreds, Tens and Ones with regrouping.
Directions are included for each set of slides.
While one student works a problem on the SMARTBoard, I have the other students at their seats working the problem on their white boards. If I see I have a few students having difficulty with the work, I then move them to my reading table so I can I keep a closer eye on what they are doing and give help where needed.
