I have designed these worksheets so there is no simplifying of fractions. This way they can focus on the addition.

These adding fractions worksheets provide an opportunity to practice mathematical skills as well as problem solving skills in a more practical context and focused on fractions. The high interest topics in these mysteries are also highly motivating for this age group and will capture their imagination.

These math mysteries are designed for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. Could also be used with struggling seventh grade students that need a little extra work and reinforcement in multiplying fractions or advanced third graders. I also leave some of the mysteries for my sub teacher. The same goes for advanced third grade students.

Math Mysteries are an independent escape room (or crack the code) type of activity where instead of using locks, students identify suspects with puzzles and word problems. This mystery is perfect all year round, start of school, end of year and any season. (fall, spring, summer and winter). Also great for Halloween, Christmas and Easter time. Also great for Halloween, Christmas, Easter time, Thanksgiving

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
