This was a fun lab and a great visual for students to show how different birds have different beaks depending on their diet. Kids were completely engaged and loved it!
Description
Students will use different “beaks” to try and pick up food. Bird beaks have adapted over the years to help birds survive in their environments. Set up tables depending on the type of food. Students will take turns trying to see how much of each food they can pick up using the tool in ONE TRY! They will record the amounts on their chart. After they have visited all of the food stations students should discuss which “beak” was the best for eating each type of food.

worms- gummy worms
Bugs-raisins
fish- swedish fish
seeds- sunflower seeds
nectar- water with food coloring
