Get all the Topic 5 Multiplication lessons for less than purchasing them individually!

This is a fun, interactive, monster-themed flipchart that focuses on the meaning of multiplication. It supports Pearson’s Envision 3rd grade math program, but can be easily used on its own. The flipchart is full of “magic tricks”, interactive manipulatives, student interactives, and web links. It is highly engaging, and you’ll have your students’ attention from the beginning to the end of the lesson! There are suggestions for how you can use some pages as well as suggestions for additions to the lessons. Be sure to read the page notes—otherwise you will miss something! The flipchart includes the following lessons:
• 5-1 Multiplication as Repeated Addition
o Click on the monsters to show how 5 monsters with 3 eyes each equals 15 total eyes;
o Use interactive manipulatives to practice adding equal groups;
o "Magically" pull Grossy Grape candy out of 3 bags to see that 3 bags with 2 pieces of candy equals 6 pieces of candy;
o Move the repeated addition sentence through the magic wand to reveal what the multiplication sentence would be;
o Fun matching game at the end, complete with reward sounds!

• 5-2 Multiplication and Arrays
o Help Oggie the Ogre decorate his new place by arranging his pictures into an array;
o Learn how the factors in multiplication can be in any order and the answer will be the same;
o Write the addition and multiplication sentences for the arrays of moldy muffins, then erase to see if you are correct (could be used as a center).
• 5-3 Using Multiplication to Compare
o Click on BooBoo and Fang to reveal how many shoes they own—Fang has 5 times as many shoes as BooBoo!
o Use virtual manipulatives to model multiplication in a bar diagram;
