This acetate self portrait painting lesson will keep your middle school or high school art students engaged and excited with the results. Students will learn some fun facts and be engaged in an art critique of artwork created by artist Andy Warhol, while creating a self portrait with correct proportions, but abstract in the color palette. The PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides include art vocabulary (abstract, realistic and non-objective), lesson objectives, standards, step-by-step directions, student examples, materials needed, art critique and information about Andy Warhol, YouTube video art tutorial, rubric and reflection questions. In addition, an informal assessment on non-objective, realistic and abstract art is included in this lesson.
