This is a perfect way to incorporate writing into your Presidents' Day unit, or for any time of the year! In the activity, you will read several books (sources provided) about the historical story of why Abe Lincoln grew his beard. The students will then read the included passage, "What About Whiskers," and use it to form an opinion about whether or not Lincoln should or should not have a beard as a president. End it with a cute Abe Lincoln craft for an awesome unit!
