What educators are saying

Great introduction to the aboriginal people and step-by-step instructions on how to create a traditional.painting.

Description

It is a passion of mine to learn how and why other cultures create works of art! This no-prep, step-by-step Aboriginal Animal Dot Painting lesson provides students the knowledge and skills to create their own artwork in the dot painting style. This is a work of art students love to create because they are guided through the step-by-step process, yet can use their own creativity! Specific questions will be addressed including, “Who are the Aboriginal people? Where are they from? What is an Aboriginal dot painting? How and why do the artists create a painting?” Objectives included are:

· Apply color mixing, composition balance and pattern skills to create a colorful painting using the Aboriginal dot technique

· Utilize cultural subject matter and symbols to create an Aboriginal dot art style painting

· Apply methods for art criticism (e.g., describe, analyze, interpret, judge) by participating in a peer critique.
