    Description

    For Beginner Students with Deafness and their instructors learning American Sign Language words and numbers:

    Students who are deaf versus hearing-impaired

    require accommodations determined by three factors:

    the degree of hearing loss,

    the age at onset,

    and the type of language or communication system they use.

    They both may use a variety of communication methods including lip-reading, cued speech, signed English, and/or American Sign Language.

    Accessibility suggestions:

    Go to your device “Settings” where you can adjust the screens:

    brightness and color, size of text, resolution, connect to wireless display

    and adjust the sound.

    Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
    Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
    Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
    When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
