Description

With this activity students will practice communicating without using their voices.

Students will act out and use gesture to indicate a variety of problems that may arise in school (I need a pencil, I feel sick, I forgot my homework, etc.) while other students guess what the problem is.

This is an excellent introductory activity to get students used to the idea of not relying on their voices to communicate.

See my ASL Introductory Activities - Voices Off Practice SMART Notebook presentation for a whole lesson with this and other activities to get your ASL class started off on the right foot!

This activity can be used in ANY grade/age group just starting out with the language. I've used this successfully with 6-12 grade.

It can also be used in other disciplines as an ice breaker, or brain break type of activity.
