ART Cards: The Great Wave
- PDF
Description
Art Cards are a great way to reward positive student behavior. Students are better behaved, more engaged, and excited to earn them. Art Cards are not only fun, they are also educational. The back of the card features a brief overview of the artist and their work along with vocabulary words to help students get better acquainted with terms commonly used in the art field. The front of the cards includes (18) FREE parodies featuring fun characters and pop culture icons. I've printed each page separately on a piece of letter-sized paper (8.5"x11"), and glued the front and backs of the prints on card stock to give a substantial look and feel.
The content reads:
The Great Wave off Kanagawa
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)
Although Hokusai was a painter, the Japanese artist is best known for his captivating woodblock prints. The Great Wave off Kanagawa was part of a series depicting thirty-six views of Mount Fuji and is considered his most famous print. The scene depicts the movement of three boats through a treacherous storm about to be crushed by a rogue wave and it’s “claws” of foam. Hokusai’s art became influential to many European artists including Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
