Description

Reward good behavior with ART Cards featuring a brief overview of René Magritte and The Son of Man. The downloadable file includes (18) FREE parodies featuring fun pop culture icons. I've printed each page separately on a piece of letter-sized paper (8.5"x11"), and glued the front and backs of the prints on card stock to give a substantial look and feel. My students absolutely LOVE them and are better behaved with the hopes of choosing one. ART Cards are fun, engaging and educational.

The content of one side of the card provides a brief overview of René Magritte, The Son of Man painting, and vocabulary words to get students better acquainted with terms commonly used in the art field.

The content reads:

The Son of Man

René Magritte (1898-1967)

René Magritte was a Belgian artist during the Surrealist art movement. The Son of Man is one of his most famous paintings and the meaning behind the piece has mystified viewers for years. The Son of Manis a self-portrait featuring a well-dressed man wearing a trench coat and a bowler hat. The man is balanced in the middle of the composition with a green apple obstructing his view and hiding his identity. What is the meaning behind the apple? Does it represent weakness and temptation or is it a sign of inner-power and drive?
