Description

This 28-page product includes everything you need to teach about the American Flag: 6 reading comprehension worksheets (varying levels) with answer keys; 3 writing prompts (opinion, informative, narrative) in 3 formats with revising and editing checklists; 2 hands-on flag activities (timeline, create your own flag); Pledge of Allegiance vocabulary mini-unit (hands-on activity, vocabulary cards, test); and 12 video links (over 90 minutes of video footage)!

This would be a great way to integrate Social Studies into your ELA block. There are three ways to use it:

1 Use it all together! Teach a one- to three-week unit on the American Flag or Pledge of Allegiance!

2 Use a little at a time for holidays! Use a single passage and/or writing prompt for patriotic holidays and events like Olympics, Election Day, Veteran’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, or Fourth of July.

3. Leave it for a sub! Leave a video, reading sheet, and writing prompt and you're good to go!
