Back to school is going to be wild this year! Get to know your students with this super immersive and engaging mixed media explosion book art project with the theme of ALL ABOUT ME.
Designed best for middle and high school ages.
Great project that incorporates multiple mediums in a single project!
How This Project Works:
Day 1: BOOK ASSEMBLING
Students will create their blank explosion book with black cardstock, chipboard, glue sticks and yarn.
Day 2-3: CENTER PAGE ILLUSTRATIONS
For the inside of their book, they will spend time filling in the "center page template" handout of illustrations relating to them. They can also choose to bring in printed images or photos to include.
Day 3-4: CORNER PAGE WATERCOLOR PIECES
Students will choose from a variety of watercolor technique designs to fill in the remaining spaces in their book: (rubbing alcohol, cling wrap, straw blowing and wax resist)
Day 5: GLUEING IN ALL PAGES AND DECORATE COVERS
This Product Comes With:
- PDF and PPT versions of project tutorial and steps
- 2 page PDF handout of center page blank template students
- Tutorial/timelapse videos of 4 watercolor corner page designs and book assembling
Materials Needed For This Project:
(Because this is a mixed media/student choice focused project, you can use whatever items you have in your art room! Though watercolor supplies are highly recommended, you can substitute for other alternatives.)
- black cardstock paper (8.5 x 8.5)
- chipboard (4.5 x 4.5)
- yarn or ribbon
- glue or adhesives
- watercolor paper
- watercolor paint/brushes
- oil pastels (crayons will work as well)
- cling wrap
- rubbing alcohol and medicine drops
(Q-tips will also work in place of medicine drops!)
