Boost student relationships and remember your students’ personality types all year with this no-prep, easy-to-use Color-Coded Picasso Self Portrait Personality Glyph & Inside/Outside Traits Two Voice Poem BUNDLE! This unit allows students to integrate art and poetry into one Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) unit. Students will first create a Picasso-inspired art piece that represents their personality through a special color code by either coloring OR painting their self-portrait! They will then use poetry to deeply analyze and write about their inside vs. outside character and personality traits. Two templates are included for a student to write about themselves OR a character (fictional or historical) in a book, novel, or story they are reading.

This is useful because everyone can recall their personality types at-a-glance, thus turning this abstract concept into an activity that is interesting, easy to understand, and memorable!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students will need results from TWO personality inventories to complete this activity. You can use inventories you already have or purchase some from the Megan Memories store. How I Use It In My Classroom:

I have used this with my 5th-8th grade students for years. We do it at the beginning of the year as a Get to Know You Activity. We talk about what makes a person who they are and how we have inside character traits and outside traits. I have students complete several Personality Inventories (available in the Megan Memories store), We also use it as an opportunity to discuss our cultures and how they are the same and different. I then have students do the Picasso Portrait Personality Glyph (we like to paint it, but instructions for painting and coloring are both included). After completing the art activity, I have them write the Two-Voice poem to go with it. They then present it all together. They put the art as their Binder Cover, Cubby Cover, or as an art display with the poems. Throughout the year, I often put students into groups based on their personality types, and it is easy for me to see who falls into each category by just glancing at these.
