Description
This Google Spreadsheet was created to pair with our AASL K-5 I Can Statements.
It is fully Editable so you can change things to meet your library's needs.
I created this matrix as a way to track how I am going to ensure I teach all AASL standards to students in my school starting in kindergarten and building on them all the way through 5th grade. These are not lesson plans. I use this as a tool to guide my lesson planning throughout the year. I have filled out the matrix for my specific teaching style. I shared it this way for librarians that need help deconstructing standards and being able to see the whole picture of them in action.
This spreadsheet includes every single learning target included in the AASL K-5 I can Statements. It also includes which slide you can find the learning target on to ensure easy access when it is time to print, or include the slide in your lesson.
There is a section to check off which learning targets you work on with each grade. Several targets are worked on through multiple grades, while I have saved some of the more complex research based targets for 4th and 5th grade.
There is a column to note when a standard is being met in everyday library activities (such as centers, book checkout, or read aloud discussions). There is also a column to note when a lesson or unit needs to be created to reach specific targets.
There is a separate sheet tab of directions on how to understand the matrix, and another tab for understanding the standard code.
The targets have been Color coded to correspond to the AASL Framework for Learners (2018), for easy comparison.
