Description

Give your elementary students an opportunity to understand terms and phrases related to Ancient Egypt (Common Core Anchor Standard RIT.4 & 9, and social studies standards related to culture, geography & civilizations) --whether you teach them or they embark on a digital or media exploration on their own, they will be researching familiar and unfamiliar terms related to an important world civilization. This A-Z book is a great contextualized way to teach the Common Core reading and language standards of unknown words and phrases as well as concrete and abstract nouns, and especially the research piece in the reading standards. For each page, there is space to create a picture and student friendly definition for each letter of the alphabet. Finished books are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, and require no cutting for assembly, just copying single-sided, folding and stapling (directions included + a new little video tutorial I created to show you how I copy and assemble them as "books"...video link below). Second graders AND UP can easily assemble it themselves with your verbal directions. Make individual books, a few books for early finishers, or one book for a collaborative class page. Use whole class, small group, cooperative group, in a center, for early finishers, for gifted students, as homework or extra credit...it's up to you! The differentiated possibilities are endless!

Words in the Ancient Egypt book are:
amulet, Book of the Dead, coffins, Duat, Egypt, flagellum, graves, hieroglyphics,Isis, jewelry, Khnum, linen, mummy, Nebu, pharoah, Osiris, Queen of the Nile, Ra (Staff of Ra), sarcophagus, tombs, underworld, Valley of the Kings, wrappings, Xerxes, Yuya, zodiac
