Description

Sharpen your student's mental math, problem solving, and estimation skills by taking them through a year of estimating how many seasonal items are in a jar. By focusing on numbers through 100 and reviewing all areas of Kindergarten Math, the four hints for each jar lead young learners to the correct answer. This is a fun, challenging supplement to any Kindergarten Math program! You will get hints and ideas to use with your own jar and easy to find seasonal items. Create your own Estimation Station to last for two weeks. There are two ideas for each month of the year. The hints get progressively more challenging through the year and guide students to become expert estimators!

Packet Includes:

* Three pages of explicit directions & pictures

* A list of items you will need

* Two "Estimation Station" posters (1 color, & 1 black & white)

* Two types of student recording sheets

* Two sets of questions and hints per month (1 for a lower number of larger items, and 1 for a higher number of smaller items) (August - July)

* A blank template for you (or high-level students) to create your own hints and questions

This product can be used for a whole class activity, a math center activity, or an activity for early finishers. After estimating, reviewing the hints, and counting the items, there can be a whole other class lesson on dividing the items up equally among the students.

Proceeds from this store go to scholarships for new teachers. Please help me Create-It-Forward!

Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
