Description

This 5E Integrated STEAM lesson plan is split into the five parts of the 5E Model; engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate. Each part can be taught in it's own class period or combined depending on the amount of time available and age of your students. The lesson plan includes content and language objectives, vocabulary, NGSS and CCM standards, student response sheets and rubrics for evaluation. Students use a variety of tech tools in the lesson series including Tinkercad, Screencastify, Padlet or Flipgrid.

To see how I taught this in the classroom, check out my blog posts about it. http://tranquilityyearinspace.weebly.com/capcom-conrad/category/tinkercad

*Note: I had NEVER used Tinkercad before doing this lesson! The kiddos picked it up quickly and really enjoyed it.

Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
Write, read, and evaluate expressions in which letters stand for numbers.
Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. For example, express the calculation β€œSubtract 𝘺 from 5” as 5 - 𝘺.
Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real-world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations). For example, use the formulas V = sΒ³ and A = 6 sΒ² to find the volume and surface area of a cube with sides of length s = 1/2.
