What educators are saying

My 2nd graders loved this resource to work on ta/ta-di rhythms. Thank you for introducing me to this lovely book!
This was the perfect resource to use for Hispanic Heritage Month. We created our own fruit rhythms and played them with the fruit shaped shakers.

Description

A Song of Frutas is a cute story about a little girl and her grandfather. She helps him to sell his Fruit from his stand and they make their own song using the fruit names to help sell more! This book lends itself perfectly to some awesome student compositions.

Students will learn the pronunciations of the Fruit words in Spanish and decode their rhythm notations. Then as a whole class, small group or individuals; compose your own Fruit Call! Use these fruit sentences to play on the un-pitched percussion instruments, or take it a step further and compose a melody for your Fruit Song!

This lesson is great for many age levels and can be used throughout the year or during Hispanic Heritage Month!
