Teach students the importance of asking permission to hug, standing face to face, wrapping arms around the back only, counting to 3 and letting go, and understanding that when someone says "no," it means no hug.
This is a Social Story for students in pre-k, kindergarten, special education, and diverse learners, including autism. It is written in first-person, clear, simple language and the story is carefully worded so that it can be used with verbal and nonverbal students.
