    Description

This bundle contains a test on "A Raisin in the Sun" and an introductory PowerPoint on Lorraine Hansberry and her play.

    Test

There are 4 items in this test section that cover Lorraine Hansberry's play "A Raisin in the Sun."

Item 1 is a 70-question test that contains in-text, as well as beyond-text questions that range from simple to challenging questions that require higher order thinking skills. The questions are mostly multiple choice, but a few are in true-false format.

The test is broken down into 6 sections, as follows:

1- Facts about the Play's Storyline

2- Analysis of Dreams & Symbols

    3- True-False

4- The Play and its Author

5- Analyzing Quotes from the Play

6- Informational Text (Students read a selection from Hansberry's "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black," and then answer 10 questions about the text.

Item 2 is a 2-page study guide that also has 5 short essay questions that students can prepare for. The short essay is a randomly drawn question right before the test begins. Students answer 1 to 3 paragraphs on the short essay.

Item 3 is the 4-page informational text by Hansberry: "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black."

Item 4 is the 8-page ANSWER KEY.

This product has everything you need to assess the students at the end of the unit, as well as the study guide to get the students to focus their studies.

All documents come in Word and in PDF; therefore, there are a total of 42 pages.

(If you are interested in using the informational text as a separate assignment -- which I do in my classroom -- I have that item for sale with an assessment. The assessment has multiple-choice questions and short-answer questions. Look in my store for "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black.")

    Hansberry PowerPoint

This 23-slide PowerPoint introduces Lorraine Hansberry and her play "A Raisin in the Sun." It also focuses on the American dream and has an inclusive assignment that gets students thinking about their dreams, which you can use for discussion.

In addition to the PPT, there is a 3-page lecture guide for the students that is fill in the blank. This helps keeps students focused on the presentation as you deliver it. The guide comes in Word and in PDF, making for 6 pages total.

Depending on how in-depth you get with your lecture, as well as how much time you spend discussing the ideas of dreams and the American dream, this presentation could take 1 to 3 days.
