What educators are saying

Fun way to start this unit. I added in a google map of my students location to compare to South Sudan. The kids enjoyed this.
This is a great resource for a novel study on this book. It came with a lot of good things for my students to complete.

This activity was designed to allow students to better understand South Sudan. This part of the world was utterly foreign to most of my students. This lesson helped them gain a better understanding of Africa's geography, culture, and people.

How to use this lesson in your classroom:

  • Complete as a whole class activity to allow for further discussions of Sudan.
  • Allow students to work in small groups. Students can learn from one another and have conversations about their research.
  • Independent prereading activity
  • Sub plans
  • Homework assignment
